The Who's soldiered on through a full day of tech today. Wig caps and all, we began to see the technical elements of this show come to life. As you can imagine with any show, but especially one of the Dr. Seuss variety, this is when the show really gets that exciting boost. All it does is open the gate to Whoville that much more, making that magical world into a reality (well, a reality for us). Although these are the days of the infamous "hurry up and wait" type of process, the discovery of the new who-ditions such as costumes, make-up, set pieces, lights, orchestra, etc really does make it all worth it. Also, what really speeds up this process is having a comic genius involved. Stefan, or Robbie Rotten as he is affectionately known to Lazytown fans, has provided the rest of us with enough laughs to distract from the craziness and the waiting. Nothing is stagnant with that man. Whether he's asking if anyone's seen his dog Max while he has a piece of dog fur sticking out the side of his mouth, or it's coming up with animal sounds that no human being should ever be able to make, I feel like I should be paying for a ticket to watch him in rehearsals! On a serious note, my creative brain is about to explode with everything I have already sponged up from working with him, as well as others in the cast. When somebody has mastered a craft like that, I can't help but salivate and pick up whatever creative nuggets are left for grabs. Feeling incredibly blessed to be around artists that live for their craft. Musicians, choreographers, directors, stagehands, costumers, etc. who are ALWAYS on point and passionate with what they're doing. When I'm surrounded by people who work that hard and have so much fun preparing to share this story with audiences, I just know this is what I'm meant to do with my life. To be a part of a production that could very well be the first ever Broadway style show that someone attends... how incredible! They may remember it their entire lives! The seed may be planted for their own passion of the theatre! Or maybe their Christmas season is just a little bit brighter! In any case, it gives me chills to be a part of it! Tomorrow is more of the same- we charge on and keep adding! Then we run, we smooth, we pick apart, we smooth some more, and repeat... And although I go to bed aching and pass out just as I hit the pillow, I wake up excited to do it all over again.Thank God. |
