Another childhood dream came true today... I was in the theatre entertaining people the entire day. By entire day, I mean four shows at 11:00, 2:00, 5:00, and 8:00. Between the second and third show is when I started getting a little loopy and developing a certain sense of deja vu. This is when I needed to remind myself that when I was a kid growing up, all I ever wanted to do was spend all day on a stage. We brought laughter and joy to four different incredible audiences, and that leaves me feeling incredibly grateful. I have nothing but respect for the people around me who gave the same amazing show to these audiences, never shrugging off number three as "just another show" or performing number four with one foot practically out the door. Everyone involved works with their minds completely in the moment. Dedicated. Passionate. These are the kind of people that make me want to be better, the ones that remind me why I do what I do. When the only way I can communicate with loved ones may be a short text message some days, those sacrifices all come into perspective when I experience days like today. How refreshing to become part of a family that is dedicated to being true onstage and offstage, which is certainly not found everywhere.
I respect the stamina of everyone, but in particular, I respect our three leads, Stefan, Andreas, and Bob. The physical and vocal energy required on their end is INSANE. Stefan (The Grinch) is an absolute machine. Four shows of "not taking a play off", giving it 100 percent to every single moment- it leaves me incapable of not giving it my all. It's a gift to be in the presence of someone like that, and just as amazing to see how much each audience appreciates the work he puts in. Andreas (Young Max) is another example of a professional in every sense of the word. This guy is 20 years old, but has the professionalism of someone ten years older. He is joyful about the story he is telling, just as innocently curious and genuinely interested as the amazing puppy he plays. The inspiration from these artists will be carried with me wherever I go- I'm excited to continue taking in and pocketing these moments as they come.
Oklahoma City has been amazing- limo rides to Sonic, late night hot tub time, catching up with old friends, making several new friends, and being able to share this amazing show with thousands of people, young and old!
Two more shows and we move to Tulsa, and I can hardly wait. Life is handing me excitement at every turn, leaving me joyful to be in the present and just as joyful to look toward tomorrow. I continue to learn the value of controlling what you can and letting go of what you cannot. This lifestyle is unpredictable in many ways, but the comfort of God and a family that is forever leaves me with a peace of mind I cannot imagine living without. As I try to capture the feelings of this week, and especially this very day, I don't think I can say it better than Paul in Phillipians 3:13-14 "forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
